I have had these burgers dissapear right before my very eyes. Warning, they are hot, but youcan cut out the chilis and add something else. I mark this as a kid pleaser because my kids love them, but they may be too spicy for others. I never measure, so they turn out differently every time, but this is a rough estimate of them. Freeze them individually for 1 hour, then pack them into freezer bags for up to 2 mths. Thaw and BBQ them or fry on the stove top.

SERVES 20 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 4-5 lbs lean hamburger
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons Tex-Mex seasoning
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup mixed garlic seasoning
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons crushed dried chilies
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 5 eggs

Directions

  1. 1
Mix all ingredients together very well with your hands.
  2. 2
    Form into approx 20 hamburgers.
  3. 3
BBQ or stove-top grill the burgers to taste.

I also cut this recipe back a bit and used taco seasoning,as I couldn't find Tex-Mex. These burgers were packed with flavour and beautifully spicy...DH (the burger critic round here) thought they were great, and I agree. Thanks Sam,for a great tasting and simple burger recipe!

I made this (reduced to 4 servings) using taco seasoning for the Tex-Mex and red pepper flakes for the crushed dried chilies. Loaded with flavor. Woo-hoo!

These burgers try to bite back but they are scrumptious while in the attempt. I used a southwest mix that already had oregano in it, it was Santa Fe Seasoning Blend (Salt Free!). I made 6, 4oz burgers that I'm going to enjoy through the summer. If your a Tex-Mex or a spicy fan these are for you!
