Royal Icing

Recipe #84538 | 10 min | 5 min prep

One of the parents in my class brought in some sugar cookies topped with this icing. It was delicious! The recipe came from a book called Cookie Dough Fun. I just made this recipe myself, and I had to add a 2 tablespoons of milk to it - the icing was very stiff and it hardens quickly. The taste is fantastic though and it looked really pretty on the cookie.

1 cup frosting (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 egg white, at room temperature
  • 2-2 1/2 cups sifter powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Directions

  1. 1
Beat egg white in small bowl at high speed of electric mixer until egg is foamy.
  2. 2
Gradually add 2 cups powdered sugar and almond extract.
  3. 3
Beat at low speed until moistened.
  4. 4
Increase mixer speed to high and beat until icing is stiff.

GREAT! I made it for gingerbread men. It was a great recipe and rlly easy. I used vanilla extract instead and it worked great. It was kinda think and i only used 2 cups of sugar and it didnt seem to make ALOT but enough for about 15-20 cookies.
