Easy, inexpensive and effective!

1 treatment (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 2 liters cold water
  • ice cubes, as desired

Directions

  1. 1
To refresh fish that's got sticky on the way home from the store, try this ancient Scottish trick called"crimping".
  2. 2
Add sea salt to cold water.
  3. 3
    Drop in enough ice cubes.
  4. 4
Immerse fish into the iced"sea water".
  5. 5
Allow it to sit in it for 15 minutes.
  6. 6
Remove and dry it off with a clean towel.
  7. 7
Give it a sniff; it'll smell sea sweet.
  8. 8
    Enjoy!

Thank you so much for this tip! I had a bag of frozen whiting filets and when they were defrosted they were really fishy smelling. After using this technique I was able to cook them and they came out delicious.
