Ranch Dressing and Seasoning Mix

Recipe #47249 | 1 min | 1 min prep | add private note

By: Angela Curtis
Nov 21, 2002

This essentially Hidden Valley's Ranch Dressing and Seasoning mix. I don't like to use that stuff because (last I checked) it has msg in it.

1 bottle of salad dressing mix (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Combine all ingredients in a blender.
  2. 2
Blend at high speed until smooth.
  3. 3
If you want to use this to make salad dressing combine 1 tablespoon mix with 1 cup mayonnaise and 1 cup milk.
  4. 4
Otherwise use 1 tablespoon in any recipe calling for an envelope of ranch dressing mix.

Delicious! I wish I had read the reviews which cautioned to add milk a little bit at a time to achieve the consistency you want, as yes - 1 cup of milk makes it much too thin for my preferences. But the flavor is fantastic! Thanks for posting.

This is one of the best reproductions Ive tried so far, but there is still something missing. Most mixes you find online are reproducing the bottled stuff. This is similar to the packet seasonings (which Im trying to replicate). I looks just like it, but I had to add msg to it to make it taste like the store bought, and thus the reason why I gave it only four stars. I usually avoid things with msg but this is my one and only exception. I used the Hellmans mayo. I didn't add the msg into the whole mix, but will try a different mayo, and see if it comes out any different, and if it needs the msg added to it then. I also used 1 1/2 T. and cut back the milk to 1/2c. to get the same consistency that the store bought produces. I'll update the next time I make it with the different mayo to let you know. Thank you for the recipe, at least I am closer to what I'm searching for! EDIT: This time I used Kraft Real Mayo and it turned out superb! How do I know? Had the real deal made up right next to it. I honestly couldnt tell them apart except for the real one was a bit saltier tasting (probably the msg) I have now been converted and am making up a big batch of mix and will no longer use the msg laden storebought stuff. Thanks for making one of my longest sought recipe quests come to a successful end. loves you

Very good "ranch" flavor. I had tried another mix but didn't like the starchy flavor due to the crackers in it. This one is great. I did use about 1 1/2 tablespoons when making dressing to get more flavor.

I don't like dill so I leave it out. I also use a little less salt as I found my first batch a little too salty.
