Ramen With Peas and Parmesan

Recipe #203126 | 10 min | 5 min prep | add private note

I was asked to post this relic from my college days when the only cooking items we were allowed to have in our dorm rooms was a hotpot and a popcorn popper. Its about as non-gourmet as non-gourmet gets, but its cheap, easy, filling, and suprizingly tasty. Its tastier than it sounds and it still shows up on my table from time to time, much to my kids' delight.

SERVES 1 -2 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles

  • 1/2 cup frozen peas (yes, a package of frozen peas can be kept in the ice cube compartment of a dorm fridge, though not f)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. 1
Boil water in your hot pot or a real pot if you have actual cooking facilities.
  2. 2
Break up and drop in the ramens. Add the peas. Bring to a boil again.
  3. 3
Drain and tip into a large bowl.
  4. 4
Add butter, parmesan, and 1/3 of the ramen's seasoning packet.
  5. 5
Feeds one active, hungry teen or can be used as a side dish for 2.

Great recipe! Easy to make, quick, and even makes a valiant attempt to include vegetables! Great for teens and college students. I added 1/4 cup milk to make it a little more creamy, but that's personal preference and not all college students will have milk on-hand. Thanks for a good, quick dish!

I needed a side dish to make with Oven-Barbecued Chicken. I doubled the recipe for my family of four and followed the recipe as written other then I used the full packet of seasoning and I used canned peas instead of frozen as I am not a fan of frozen veggies. This was a tasty, different side dish.

Awesome, easy recipe!! My hubby & I both really liked this. What a fast, tasty sidedish! I used chicken ramen & 2 cups of canned peas (you can never have too many vegetables). I also added pepper at the table.

DH and I really liked these (I doubled the recipe and had it as a side dish) but, believe it or not, my kids weren't into it. I think they are so used to the ramen soups as soup! I liked the way the peas added some texture (pop thing)and the cheese and butter made the noodles soft which was good for me at the moment (gums hurt). Thank you!
