We've been using this recipe for a few years now, it's the exact same one that comes printed on the side of the Rice Chex cereal box. A few helpful hints: Divide the cereal and the chocolate/peanut butter mixture between a few gallon sized zip lock bags. It'll make mixing it all easier and cleaner! Also, I found that this is too sweet for me personally so we created what our family calls "The Salty Dog". I sprinkle the whole batch of finished puppy chow with about a teaspoon of salt. It adds a really nice sweet/salty flavor to each bite. A girlfriend of mine adds crushed up pretzel pieces to the cereal before she coats it with chocolate/peanut butter

This is NOT just for little kids, but for us big kids too! I think it's addictive, and am thankful it makes a huge batch. I make it by substituting the chocolate chips and peanut butter with a jar of Nutella. Try it!

Yummy! Just one thing- there should definatly be a disclaimer listed- THIS IS NOT A NEAT THING TO MAKE!! Every surface in my kitchen had chocolate or powdered sugar on it by the time I was done!! I have never made anything so MESSY! I mixed all the cereal with the chocolate mixture at once but added small amounts to the ziplock baggie (a big one) at a time. Next time I will mix half the cereal at a time with the chocolate. I like the trash bag idea someone else suggested!!! I definatly used more then a cup and half of powdered sugar but I didn't measure it- just sprinkled it in. Oh, it's all worth it when you taste them though!!
