Pretzel Salad Dessert

Recipe #49546 | 40 min | 30 min prep | add private note

It's a good Christmas dessert. It's easy to make. Like a said in the recipe, you can make any variations. If you don't want so much of the cream cheese layer you can 1/2 that part of the recipe and have a thin layer.

1 9x13 pan (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix the crushed pretzels, sugar, and margarine or butter together.
  2. 2
Put in bottom of 9x13-inch pan.
  3. 3
    Bake for 10 minutes.
  4. 4
    Cool.
  5. 5
While crust is cooling, mix the cream cheese, sugar, and Cool Whip together.
  6. 6
Put on top of cooled pretzel crust.
  7. 7
    Let set.
  8. 8
While the pan is setting, mix up the jello, water, and fruit.
  9. 9
Let set a little to cool down.
  10. 10
    Pour onto cream cheese mixture.
  11. 11
    Let set.
  12. 12
    Keep refrigerated.
  13. 13
The food coloring is for the cream cheese layer.
  14. 14
If by chance you want the green color to represent the trees and have the berries decorating the tree.
  15. 15
Also you could even poke a few holes into the cream cheese layer before adding the jello mixture to get a different design.
  16. 16
You could have any kind of Jello to match your fruit.
  17. 17
I have used strawberries, raspberry, and blueberries before to be different once in a while.

we love this recipe. My husband requested it for Thanksgiving. The only thing that I did different is add an extra 8oz. of cream cheese to make it a heavier mix (not good if your counting calories, but taste yummy)!! Thanks for posting!

My family didn't like the pretzel crust and a few suggested making a graham cracker crust. I thought the jello layer and cream cheese layer was really good.
