I made these for a Valentine's Day bake sale and they were the first to go! The recipe was given to me by a friend.

30 Popcorn Balls (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
bring to boil butter, sugar, syrup.
  2. 2
add condensed milk- boil 5 minute.
  3. 3
remove from heat and add vanilla.
  4. 4
    strain seeds from popcorn.
  5. 5
pour hot mixture over popcorn and mix.
  6. 6
grease hands and make balls out of mixture.
  7. 7
    *extra note;
  8. 8
To remove the seeds, I usually take two bowls and lift out the popcorn by the hand fulls and shaking it, then dumping it into the extra bowl. When I get to the bottom, there lies most of the seeds. I just discard them and go on with the rest.
  9. 9
Hope you can visualize that and that it helps!

These taste great and they stick together nicely. We will definitely make them again. One thing to watch out for: we found that we had to stir vigorously while boiling to prevent burning....the first batch we tried was ruined because we didn't stir continuously even though we used low temperature and a high quality heavy-bottomed pot.

I used a little more popcorn than the recipe called for and they turned out great! I had all the neighborhood kids (and their parents) asking for more.

This is a great recipe. I checked the mixture for balling stage and 5 min was perfect. Also we added 1.5 cups of peanuts and used the 6 quarts of popcorn. With the children, four of ours ages 4-15 helped, don't be afraid to let it cool a bit and mixt the syrup in very well. At tennis ball size balls it made 50 balls. We used 3 cookie sheets to put them on and sprayed them with pam.

These are fantastic. I was really craving some kind of popcorn ball, and this one seemed easy enough, and was the first return that I got in a search. I had to let the popcorn with the sauce rest for a little until it wasnt too hot to handle before it would start forming balls, if I didnt, they would fall apart, but it worked really well. Thanks for this recipe.
