I had left over liverwurst and mixed with the rest of ingredients. It's a big hit at party's! I've been making this for years. The main thing be sides taste is its easy and cheap.

I served this in a hollowed out loaf of fresh rye bread and had to cut up a second loaf to keep up with the demand! I had to sub green onion for the shallots and used leftover cooked bacon for the bits. I used dill pickle relish and I have to confess - doubled it. Thanks for another great recipe, Rita!

Thanks for another winner, Rita! I have been making this for years but without the bacon bits...added finely chopped red, green and yellow peppers instead. Still tasted great! But I think I'll try throwing in the bacon bits next time I have some leftover bacon....that should definitely kick it up another notch!
