Perfect Chocolate Brownies

This is the best brownie recipe I've ever used and I've used several!

SERVES 28 , 28 brownies (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. 2
    Grease a 9x13" pan.
  3. 3
    Melt shortening in a large saucepan over low heat, then stir in cocoa.
  4. 4
    Remove from heat.
  5. 5
    Mix in sugar and vanilla then mix in eggs one at a time.
  6. 6
    Stir in remaining ingredients then stir in nuts.
  7. 7
    Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. 8
    Cool completely, before cutting into 2x2" squares.

    I have read all the great reviews and learned from them, thank you all. Now I line my pan with buttered alumunin foil or parchment paper. This works very well.

Outstanding. I used butter flavored crisco and added some semi-sweet chocolate chips. May have just found the brownie recipe that will give my mom a run for her money!

    I made these for my brother's bachelor party (it was just family and good friends, no wild and crazies) because my brother is a huge chocolate fan. They were good but not great. I can't exactly say why we didn't love them. The chocolate flavor was good, they were both gooey and crunchy, just like we like them...hmm, maybe I should have taken the advice of 863647 and used butter instead of shortening and used less sugar, and perhaps added a bit of espresso powder?Thanks for sharing this recipe, though. I see many, many others loved them.

    YUMMMMM!!! So easy to make and SO yummy!!! I made them without nuts because my kids dont like nuts and it was scrumptious!!! I'll definately be making these again.

    best brownies i've ever made!!!! i baked them last night for a valentine's treat for my boyfriend - as a little romantic touch, cut them out with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. they are sooooo good!!!! and way easy!
