I found this on another website, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. Hearty Italian sausage sauteed with garlic and red pepper flakes are simmered with tomatoes and cooked with vodka and cream to make a rich, spicy sauce. Toss with penne and fresh parsley to serve.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente, drain.
  2. 2
In large skillet, heat oil over moderate heat. Add sausage, breaking up the meat, until brown. Add garlic and red pepper and cook, stirring until garlic is golden brown.
  3. 3
Add tomatoes and salt; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
  4. 4
Add vodka and cream and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and add pasta, toss for 1 minute. Stir in fresh parsley and serve,.

Yum! I really liked this recipe, something a bit different. It really needs the chili to pick it up a little bit. I agree you could easily use spicy sausage. Thanks!

This was a VERY seductive pasta dish......we had it for supper tonight and both of us thoroughly enjoyed it! The combination of sausage, garlic and chilli flakes was wonderful......and the vodka gives it a bit of a kick! I knew we would love this dish when I picked it for the Aussie/NZ Recipe Swap #9, and I was totally RIGHT! Thanks! FT N.B. I am about to travel back to England - I did take photos, but I will post them later - my laptop and camera are packed!

This was a fantastic and easy dish that we really enjoyed for our 'Valentine's Day supper. The perfect amount of sauce and pasta and the right amount of heat! I did use fat free half and half rather than heavy cream to save some fat and calories. All in all this was a delicious meal that dh really enjoyed. Thanks Crafty!
