I remember always getting candy and caramel apples at the fair or down the shore when I was a kid. This recipe is a little different with the addition of peanut butter, but just as good or better! If you remember having these as a kid, make them and be a kid again Or make them for your kids or grandkids for a treat!

8 -10 caramel apples (change servings and units)

Directions

  1. 1
    Wash and dry apples.
  2. 2
Insert stick into stem end of each apple and set aside.

I was looking for recipes for caramel apples that were different from the standard recipe on the back of the caramels bag. Personally, I am not a fan of peanut butter, but I don't know of any children who dislike peanut butter so I gave this a try. Wow! It was really, really good (I even liked it)! I had to add an additional tablespoon of water to the mixture to make it easier to dip and I omitted the chopped peanuts and rolled the dipped apples in everything from nuts to chopped Butterfinger bars. They were great and loved by all! This is definitely a keeper.

I made these for Halloween. Real easy to make. The peanut butter gave the caramel a smoother creamier texture. I had to add a little more water because mine was to thick to dip the apples in. Thanks Karen for a new caramel apple recipe.
