From Quaker Oats recipe booklet from 1989. My kids love this for breakfast but I love it too as I'm such a peanut butter nut (pun intended). Top this or swirl in your favorite jelly or preserves. I love using strawberry preserves or apple jelly.

SERVES 2 , 2 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 1 1/3 cups oats, uncooked (quick cooking or old fashioned)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1-2 tablespoon jelly or preserves (your choice of flavor)

Directions

  1. 1
In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil and then stir in all ingredients but the jelly/preserves.
  2. 2
Cook about 1 minute or quick oats or 4-5 minutes for old fashioned oats, stirring ocassionally.
  3. 3
Swirl jelly or preserves into the oatmeal or just dollop on top.

Very yummy - I love peanut butter and oatmeal, so this was great for me! I used blackberry preserves. I added a little flax seed meal and used some skim milk in place of water for my oatmeal and really enjoyed. I did mine in the microwave as I always do. Made for Photo Tag.

This is a great way to make oatmeal! I made 1 serving and really enjoyed it. The oatmeal itself was not as sweet as I thought it would be, but a nice scoop of strawberry preserves took care of that. Thanks for posting this yummy recipe!
