Party Sausage Balls

Recipe #342853 | 45 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: Mamma23
Dec 10, 2008

This is a sausage ball recipe that we make every year for the holidays. My kids have a blast making the sausage balls and then watching them "boil". They are different than any I have ever tasted before. They have a candied sweet taste, but, with the sausage they have a definite zip. Hope you enjoy.

SERVES 4 -6 , 20 30 sausage balls (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a large saucepan place the apple jelly and mustard. Heat through until the apple jelly is liquid and stir to mix.
  2. 2
Mix both sausages together and shape into bite-sized balls.
  3. 3
Drop carefully into the jelly/mustard mixture.
  4. 4
Bring to a boil and cook for 30-35 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. 5
Test a sausage ball by splitting in two to see if done.
  6. 6
When finished the sausage balls will have a glaze.
  7. 7
Remove from the sauce to a plate and serve with toothpicks.
  8. 8
If you like you may make additional sauce for dipping.

These were fantastic! I made them as the appetizer for Christmas dinner with friends. So quick and easy. I used 3 lbs. of turkey sausage. 1 lb. regular, 1 lb. sweet, and 1 lb. hot. Perfect. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

This is a easy and tasty recipe. I used some Italian sausage I had in the freezer, but I believe it will be better with regular breakfast sausage... just my taste. I also used apricot preserves since I had no apple jelly. I will make this again.
