Party Ryes

Quick and easy. Great for party appetizers or snacks.

SERVES 20 , 20 appetizers (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 cucumbers, peeled and sliced into rounds
  • 1 envelope Good Seasons Italian dressing
  • 1 loaf miniature party rye rounds or pumpernickel rounds (can be found usually in deli section of supermarket)
  • cream cheese

Directions

  1. 1
    Spread cream cheese onto bread slices (don't skimp but don't overdue it).
  2. 2
    Place cucumber round on top of spread.
  3. 3
    Add a pinch of dressing mix to the top of cucumber and sprinkle.

I would suggest mixing the entire package of seasoning mix into the cream cheese before spreading on the bread. I've been making them that way for years and they are delicious and flavorful.

    I served these at my holiday party. These were really good; pretty too. I garnished mine with fresh oregano leaves. I couldn't find party ryes so I used wasa rye bread instead. I used a soy cream cheese substitute, and instead of adding the dressing to the top of the cuke, I whipped it into the cheese. No one could tell it was non-dairy. Lots of compliments.

    Haven't tried yet but why not mix the Italian salad dressing mix with the cream cheese first, then spread on rye and top with cucumber? Just a thought/

    This is one of my all time favorite recipes. The only problem is I want to eat them all, lol The only thing I do different is I sprinkle dill on top of the cucumber.. Thanks for sharing a gret recipe. faith58
