When I got my George Foreman grill, I made up this recipe to be like the ones that I had bought. It has been a big hit with everyone.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Start heating the grill.
  2. 2
Place 1 slice of mozzarella on each of 4 slices of bread.
  3. 3
Place 1 slice of provolone on each of the other 4 slices of bread.
  4. 4
Top the mozzarella with pepperoni, salami and pepperoncini.
  5. 5
Top the provolone with turkey, ham and cheddar.
  6. 6
Place the two halves of the sandwiches together.
  7. 7
Brush the top of the first sandwich with the melted butter.
  8. 8
Place the sandwich butter side down on the grill.
  9. 9
Brush the other side with melted butter.
  10. 10
Grill till bread is toasted and the cheese has melted.
  11. 11
    Continue with the other sandwiches.
  12. 12
A George Foreman grill works great with these sandwiches but even a stove top grill would work.

This was terrific! My whole family was impressed and there were no left overs. Thanks. I saw Mysterygirl's comments about the using the George Foreman grill and did the same. This is a recipe I'll be using quite a lot.

I love, love, love this recipe! I never knew a George Foreman grill could make panini just as good as (or even better than) the Italian cafe where I used to buy them! The combinations I have tried are (1) grilled chicken, roasted bell peppers, and mozzarella cheese, (2) marinated artichoke hearts, roma tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese, and (3) thinly sliced fat-free ham and swiss cheese - all were phenomenal! You have my eternal gratitude, Mysterygirl! Edited to add: I don't use the butter on the outside of the sandwiches when I make them. I find the bread gets the perfect texture (really crispy) without it. I may try the butter, though, the next time I feel like really indulging!

Love the crispy crust and the melty cheese. I made as directed and also with pastrami. YUM!
