nice and easy base recipe for french toast casserole! i liked this recipe because it used regular sandwich bread, which is all i had on hand. i scaled the recipe down and used a 2 qt. dish. i used 8 slices of bread, 1/2 stick of butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 3 eggs and i used cinnamon, nutmeg and a bit of vanilla. cook time was spot on. we all enjoyed this.

This was so yummy! I made this for some guests over the weekend and everyone really enjoyed it. DH said he thought it had a bit too much sugar so I may decrease that next time per your suggestion. I used Texas toast and 6 eggs. But it was so simple to make...and tasted delicious! Thanks for posting!

Leta, this is a FABULOUS make-ahead breakfast dish! So easy and so tasty. I had guests over for breakfast and I served this dish along with my breakfast casserole and fresh fruit. What an easy way to serve a group of people. I had to make copies of your French Toast Casserole for everyone!!! This is surely a dish I will make over and over again. I also made a hard copy of it and it is now in my "keeper" notebook. I'm so glad I found this. Thanks for sharing. rn

I don't feel like I can really rate this one because it turned out awful. It may be by my own mistake, but when this came out of the oven, it was very mushy. Make sure you don't use too many eggs, and make sure it is well cooked before it comes out of the oven.
