This is a copy-cat recipe for the delicious bread they serve at the restaurant.

SERVES 40 , 8 mini-loaves (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Place all of the ingredients in the bread machine in the order listed, and process on dough setting. The dough will be a little on the wet side and sticky but if it seems too wet, add more flour. When dough is done, let it rise for 1 hour.
  2. 2
Remove from pan, punch down, and divide into 8 portions. Form portions into tubular shaped loaves about 6-8 inches long, and 2 inches wide.
  3. 3
Sprinkle the entire surface of the loaves with cornmeal, and place them on 2 cookie sheets. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. 4
Bake at 350 degreees for 20-25 minutes. Serve warm with whipped butter.

This recipe is VERY close to what they serve at Outback. I was impressed on my first try with it. Mine came out smelling and tasting more like coffee than I'd like, so next time I may try 1 1/2 tsp. instant coffee. I could also use it a touch sweeter. Excellent bread machine recipe and the best recipe I've made that included wheat flour.

What a great loaf of bread. I didn't remove the dough and shape into 8 mini, loaves. Instead, I just let the bread machine make it all. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
