Out of This World Green Beans

Recipe #73681 | 25 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: Deanne McKissick
Oct 20, 2003

I made this recipe up one night when trying to find a good way to cook fresh green beans. My whole family loves them. My husband regularly asks for them for dinner.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Clean green beans and tear off ends if desired.
  2. 2
    Put green beans in pot.
  3. 3
Add seasoning to taste (a few shakes of each).
  4. 4
Fry 4 or 5 pieces of bacon and crumble into pot.
  5. 5
Put enough broth in pot to steam beans, about an inch in the bottom.
  6. 6
(You may have to add some before beans are finished.) Cover and let the broth boil-- the steam will cook the beans.
  7. 7
    Stir occasionally.

I'm not rating it, but I need to say that this recipe needs some tweaking. I find it hard to understand why you say that this serves 4 when there are NO amounts listed? I would say that this is not a recipe so much as a method. And that's okay. I have some like that, but I explain that in the description so people don't get confused. I should have really read this recipe several times and thought it through before I tried to make it for dinner.

These were sooo good! I was unsure of the lemon pepper, but I am so glad that I added it. I could never go back to "plain" beans again...thanks for sharing!

Holy yumminess!!! These were so tasty I had to hold myself back from eating them all! Nice rich full flavor and the lemon pepper was wonderful in it. This was not only delicious but also fast (which works well for me since I always remember that I need to make veggies at the last minute)! Thanks for submitting this one!
