These are so easy to make and so easy to eat! Cookies and Cream in truffle form. Divine!

40 truffles (approximately) (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Oreo cookies (3 sleeves)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (using different extracts allows for subtle flavour changes...I've used mint extract, upped to 1 tsp) (optional)
  • 1 lb milk chocolate
  • 1/2 lb white chocolate

Directions

  1. 1
Using a food processor, grind cookies to a fine powder. With a mixer, blend cookie powder, cream cheese and vanilla extract until thoroughly mixed (there should be no white traces of cream cheese).
  2. 2
Roll into small balls and place on wax-lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 45 minutes.
  3. 3
Line two cookie sheets with wax paper. In double-boiler, melt milk chocolate. Dip balls and coat thoroughly. With slotted spoon, lift balls out of chocolate and let excess chocolate drip off. Place on wax-paper-lined cookie sheet.
  4. 4
In separate double boiler, melt white chocolate. Using a fork, drizzle white chocolate over balls. Let cool.
  5. 5
Store in airtight container, in refrigerator.
  6. 6
Note: When I am exceedingly lazy (most often the case these days), I forego the chocolate 'dip' and merely roll my truffles into various mixtures - chopped nuts, chocolate sprinkles, vari-coloured candy sprinkles, cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, coloured sugars -- still pretty -- less work.

Just finished making these! What can I say that hasn't already been said! These are rich and delicous. Perfect because that way you can't eat more than 2 (or maybe 3 if you try really hard) at a time. You'll love these if a) you love Oreo cookies and b) you love cream cheese, like me! =) I will make these again and again as all you need is a package of Oreo cookies, a package of cream cheese and dipping chocolates (although the process of making them does take time but it's worth it!!!).

WE LOVE THESE!!!!! I have never made anything that is better liked by my family and friends. I freeze the cookie balls before coating them in the chocolate. I also replaced the vanilla extract with peppermint and rolled them in crushed peppermints after the chocolate for one batch.

These are absolutely fabulous!!!My DH calls them "evil".....extremely rich, easy to make(albeit it time consuming).I made these using Mint flavored oreos and they ended up tasting similar to Marshall Field's Famous Frango MintsThese also make for a very pretty presentation---they look lovely with the white chocolate drizzled over the milk chocolate. Thanks a million--PeggyLynn

This recipe is excellent! It is not what I expected at all, but it is very good. I used semisweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate on the outside because I wanted the coating to be the same color as the inside. Also, after I swirled the white chocolate on, I mixed some of the leftover melted brown chocolate with the leftover melted white chocolate. It made a slightly lighter brown chocolate that I swirled over the white swirls. The candy looks very professional and tastes great!
