What fun! I got this from a Family Fun magazine, I believe. After 1st review, I went back to clarify some instructions to make it easier. :D Have fun!

SERVES 20 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 20 wooden popsicle sticks or lollipop sticks
  • 20 Oreo Double Stuff cookies (must use Double Stuff or it won't work)

  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (I use 1/4 block paraffin)
  • chopped nuts
  • colored sprinkles
  • coconut
  • miniature candies like miniature M&M's chocolate candies or Reese's pieces

Directions

  1. 1
To form Oreo® Pops, hold both outsides of oreo with good hold but not too hard, slide the stick in the cream filling gently glide it in but make sure not to have it go to the other side. (I have also heard if you put them on the defrost mode of microwave for 10 seconds before putting the stick in that it helps). Put in freezer for 10 minutes.
  2. 2
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine chocolate and oil until melted and smooth, stirring constantly. I have melted in this in the microwave on 70% power for 1 minute - stir, then additional 20-30 seconds until melted.
  3. 3
Dip each cookie into the melted chocolate, coating evenly. Place dipped cookies on greased waxed paper and decorate with your choice of items.
  4. 4
Put cookies in fridge for an hour or until set. Then wrap in plastic wrap and tie with a bow for gift-giving.

These are very yummy! I used white chocolate to coat the oreos. I ended up doing them just as the cookies, not as the pops. I just couldn't get the stick, oreo & white chocolate to cooperate. I tried though! Nonetheless this is a very tasty little treat. Made for PRMR Tag.

I made these with my boys yesterday. They had a lot of fun decorating them. They said that they were really Yummy! But I agree that it is very hard to put the popsicle stick in. I even tried the microwave trick and it didn't help. Some did stay together but too many broke. I just smothered the broken ones in chocolate and laid them on the waxed paper.

Loved it!!! I decorated the pops to look like Frosty and Santa!! The clear colored sugar sprinkels are great for decorating them also! They were a big hit!!!

In the end these WERE really tasty- talk about a chocoholic's dream! I have to give them 4 stars for that. The whole popsicle idea didn't work at all, though. First, when you try to stick a popsicle stick into the creme part, the cookie cracks. You can kind of press the broken bit back on if it's not in too many pieces, but you cannot in any way dip it into the melted chocolate. The whole thing breaks off. So, realizing this, what I ended up doing was holding each cookie and using a fork to smother it in melted chocolate so that all but the bit at the bottom was coated, then sprinkled on the sprinkles. I brought them to a friend's birthday and they went over well.
