Although there is a little work involved, these are my family's favorites. I would be disowned if I didn't make these every Christmas.

36 cookies (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Combine butter, egg yolks and brown sugar with mixer.

    Add flour gradually.
  3. 3
    Form 1 in balls.
  4. 4
    Dip the ball in egg whites and then roll the ball in chopped walnuts.
  5. 5
    Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  6. 6
    Create an indentation in the center of the ball and fill it with jam or preserves.
  7. 7
    Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes.

    I rolled my cookies with ground pecans instead of almonds and filled them with strawberry jam, these were a big hit. Thanks for the great recipe!

    These cookies, too simple a name, are HEAVENLY delite. I was concerned at first, not being a supercook as far as baking is concerned. But wanted to make them for my new father-in-law, who is of Norwegian descent. I only ate one, had filled them with different types of preserves. Now have to hide the rest until Christmas to make sure there will be some left to take on my trip. Thank you for this wonderful recipe, which is easy even for a novice Annabel

    These cookies are great! I add 2 teaspoons of vanilla to the butter, brown sugar and egg yolks.
