My Own Garlic Bread

Recipe #87461 | 30 min | 10 min prep | add private note

This is my own invention! It's the only garlic bread we eat at our house, and if you run to the store to buy your French bread loaf to make it, I think you will be making it for your family as well! It's very easy, and oh-so-delish! Let me know what you think.....

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cut French bread in half, lengthwise.
  2. 2
Melt 1 cube of margarine or butter.
  3. 3
When melted, mix in mayonnaise and garlic salt.
  4. 4
Spread the mixture on each bread half.
  5. 5
Sprinkle parmesan cheese on each half.
  6. 6
Put the two halves together and wrap securely in foil.
  7. 7
Bake 350-375 (depending on how hot YOUR oven gets, it should be hot!) for 20 to 25 minutes.
  8. 8
    Make sure it is HOT!

LOVED IT! Had this with chicken parm and buttery green beans! The whole meal was great, but the garlic bread was AMAZING! My boyfriend HATES mayo so I didn't tell him there was mayo in it until after and he said that it tasted so good, he didn't care about the mayo! I think the mayo added the perfect zing to it so that it was a little sour in a way. Since there were only two of us eating, I used a sourdough sandwich roll and my toaster over. This was amazing and cooked in about 15 mins in the toaster oven when set to 375. I still wrapped it in foil but towards the end I had a few small openings at the top of the loaf so that the heat could come in a toast the bread slightly. Thanks so much for a great meal and for sharing this recipe with us. I love being able to share my carb addiction with the boyfriend as often as possible!

OK i read all the reviews because i was like mayonnaise??? ewww!!! BUT i made it and it was AMAZING. no hint of mayonnaise taste whatsoever!!! i put both garlic salt and garlic powder in it. I LOVE GARLIC! I also put some oregano and thime in it as well. I did not have parmesan so i shredded some american cheese and sprinkled it over SLICED WHITE BREAD and then put it in the oven to taste. like i said early it was AMAZING and smells just as good as it tastes. You need to try THIS RECIPE!!!

This was incredible!! It is the best garlic bread I've ever made. Love the tang the mayo gives it. We all stopped eating the spaghetti so we'd have more room for bread!! I used 1/4 tsp. garlic salt. The only thing I'll do different next time is use soft butter rather than melted as it kept running off my bread as I tried to spread it. Thanks so much for posting it.
