My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
7 dozen cookies
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips
Directions

Cream shortening, butter, and sugars in large mixing bowl; blend in eggs and vanilla.2
Combine dry ingredients and add to butter mixture.3
Mix until well blended.4
Stir in chocolate chips.5
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets.6
Bake at 375° for 7-10 minutes until golden brown.7
**I like chewy cookies and if you do too, adjust the baking time accordingly).

This is the best cookie recipe I have tried. I took a double batch of these to one of my classes and several people asked me to send them the recipe. My fiance is also a big fan and asks me to make them every couple of weeks.

Loved them, loved them, loved them! Great cookies - I've tried lots of choc chip cookie recipes from this site and this is the best I've tried. Makes a huge batch though so I always half it.

I agree with posters who said these were too sweet. And I am a sweets person. I almost never say that.

I have tried several cookie recipes from this site, including a lot of highly rated chocolate chip cookie recipes. These were by far the best and most reliable. I use several different type cookie sheets, and they always turned out great. This was definitely the best recipe!
