Mucho Gusto Gump Margarita

Recipe #133939 | 10 min | 10 min prep | add private note
Pot Scrubber

I first had these served to me at a pool party hosted by my best friend and worst enemy Edith Gump ten years ago. I held her head under water until she surrendered the recipe. She is a horrible woman who back-stabs me at any given opportunity. But- that Hag has some recipes that are beyond comparison. This is one of them. I often drink this so I can tolerate her.

1 pitcher (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup club soda
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 pint lime juice (bottled)
  • 5 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • 1 cup ice, crushed

Directions

  1. 1
    Blend all in a blender.
  2. 2
Note: the egg white is integral in this drink. It makes it nice and frothy like an Orange Julius. Please don't omit it.
  3. 3
Another Note: It has been brought to my attention that you may also use a TB of egg substitute like Egg Beaters or some other pasteurized brand if you are concerned about a raw egg white. I have not tried this but I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

You or Edith must have a really big blender. I halved it and doubled the amounts of tequila and triple sec. It's good though, very limey and sweet which I like.

I haven't tried your drink yet, though I will. I did really enjoy your comments of the hag. I'm still laughing. She must be a real dandy. We have one in our life we call the hog.

I am not sure which was better, the drink or the description of how you came by the recipes! This is a delicious Margarita, and I would NEVER have thought of adding egg whites, so I am so glad I found it. This will be the Margarita recipe of choice in our household from now on. Now I can see the possibilites....adding strawberries, mango, pineapple....mmmm.... Thanks for a delicous recipe Pot Scrubber!

These were amazing! Never had a Rita with an egg white- definite difference- do not avoid it! Just use fresh eggs- mine was strait from my coop! I may have to change my margarita recipe now! Thanks Potsie!
