Moisten & Flavor the Cake With This Simple Syrup

OPTIONAL: for you can use 3-4 tablespoons orange liqueur, cognac, coffee liqueur, Amaretto or Frangelica or 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. You can add cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger to the water if you want additional flavoring! This is great in ice and hot drinks! This can be placed in pretty jars and wrapped for gifts as well.

SERVES 10 -12 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons lavender fresh edible flowers

Directions

    Stir 1/3 cup hot water into 1/4 cup sugar. Heat until dissolved.

    Strain petals.
  3. 3
    Cool quickly with 1/2 cup ice cubes.
  4. 4
    When dissolved sprinkle over each cake layer before spreading on the filling.

    I used this over MizzNezz's Quick Yellow Cake Quick Yellow Cake and used Lennie's Fluffy Frosting to cover. It made the cake nice and moist. My husband loved it, and so did my DS and I! Thanks Rita, this will be used when I make cakes from now on!
