Mocha Java My Way

Coffee and chocolate often are served side by side. This elegant drink combines them in a single, satisfying cup. I use a cinnamon stick for a swizzler or a peppermint stick for the holidays.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (or less to taste)
  • 1/4 cup half-and-half or light cream

Directions

  1. 1
In a small saucepan combine coffee, chocolate pieces, and sugar.
  2. 2
Cook and stir over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until chocolate is melted and sugar is dissolved.
  3. 3
In another small saucepan heat half-and-half or light cream until steaming, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4
Pour coffee mixture into a mug.
  5. 5
    Add warm half-and-half.
  6. 6
If desired, stir in additional sugar to taste.
  7. 7
    Makes 1 (12-ounce) serving.

Oh so yummy!!! Made as directed except I just heated the half-and-half up in the microwave. Next time I think I would cut back on the sugar for my taste, as the chocolate is already sweet. Thanks Annacia for a wonderful morning treat!!!!

Very nice treat for a cold miserable day. Rich with chocolate and coffee yet not overly sweet.

This was very nice. I didn't have everything, so I subbed out to make it close, but I liked the procedure, and I will probably mess around with this until I find the perfect Mocha Java MY Way.

I made this for my hubby, because I don't usually like hot coffee. He tasted this and was in heaven, so I had a couple of sips. This is delicious! I could drink this any day of the week. The coffee just enhances the wonderful taste of the chocolate, giving it an amazing depth of flavor. It is very rich, yummy and easy. Thanks, Annacia!
