These little tasty treats are always a hit. They taste just like an apple pie, except they are mini sized and easy to eat. They are great to take to a party because there is not cutting and serving needed. People always rave about these. I think their pretty tasty too! My hubby loves to eat them warm with vanilla ice cream on the side. Maybe a little caramel sauce drizzled over top! Mmmmm...

SERVES 12 , 12 pies (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Crust

Filling

  • 5 medium apples (peeled and chopped up into small pieces)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter (chilled)

Directions

  1. 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Get muffin pan out. No need to grease it.
  2. 2
In food processor blend flour, salt and butter until it looks like little peas.
  3. 3
Add in water and blend just until it looks like it's sticking.
  4. 4
Take out and combine it by hand until well blended.
  5. 5
Roll out on lightly floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. 6
Cut 12, 4 inch circles with cup or bowl.(You will need to roll out twice).
  7. 7
Note: you can use the rest of the crust for anything you may want to do on top of the pies.
  8. 8
Press each circle in muffin tins until all the way up each side, to form little bowls.
  9. 9
Mix by hand all filling ingredients and spoon into muffin bowls.
  10. 10
Cut up butter into 12 little pieces and place one piece on each pie.
  11. 11
You can decorate them anyway you like with extra crust, or just leave plain.
  12. 12
Bake at 425 degrees for 16-18 minutes. (Until crust is light brown and apples are bubbling).
  13. 13
When cool, just loosen with a spoon and they'll come right out!

Wow, these are indeed very tasty little treats! The dough was so easy to work with and their flavour is just incredible! It's just that somehow I ended up with way too much filling for my pies even though I only used 4 small apples. But other than that there's nothing to complain about in this recipe. I'll definitely make this soon again and also try it as a big apple pie. Thank you so much for posting this, Sarah in NY!

Oh, these were super! LOVED making these with my daughter. The crusts are small, so she was able to maneuver them into each muffin tin and make the pies all by herself! I made some of these with a lattice crust using the rest of the dough, and the remainder with a steusel topping of flour, sugar, butter, and cinnamon. In a pinch, you could probably use a can of apple pie filling (or other). I'm also going to try freezing a batch of these and see how well they turn out - to pop in the oven for surprise company! Thank you so much for such a great recipe!! Made for ZWT4 Family Picks for the CAFE ZMAKK Gypsies

Fantastic I hate making pie crust simply because I suck at it. However that didn't stop me. I had a dozen frozen tart shells in the freezer, so I cut the recipe in half and baked for 15 minutes in the toaster oven. Soooo easy, and soooo delicious. I'm not sure I should thank you or not, but I will
