Six minutes until hot steamy corn on the cob...and you don't even have to shuck the corn before cooking!

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Snip the silk from the top of the ear.
  2. 2
For one unshucked ear, place in the microwave for 2 minutes on high.
  3. 3
Rotate the cob one quarter turn and microwave for 2 more minutes.
  4. 4
Turn the cob again and microwave for 2 more minutes.
  5. 5
Remove from the microwave and run briefly under cool water.
  6. 6
Shuck the ear (the silk comes off easily now).
  7. 7
The time will have to be increased for more than one ear.
  8. 8
If making the corn ahead of time, store the cooked unshucked ears in a brown bag until ready to serve.
  9. 9
Serve with salt and melted butter or compound butters made with butter, garlic and herbs.

the ONLY way I'll do coc again. So quick and delicious, moist and sweet. I'm sure we'll have corn on the cob more often now that it only takes 5 min.

These turned out absolutely delectable. This is preferable to my usual method (boiling using Betty Crocker's directions) for so many reason's - it is easier, doesn't heat up the kitchen, doesn't hog a burner or dirty a pot. Most important, it actually tastes good! I still think my preferred method (grilling) tastes better, but this is a very close second and is much easier - assuring that I will actually do it. I cooked my 3 ears for a total of 9 minutes.

This is so easy to do! I love it! This is the 2nd time I have done this and the ease of the silk coming off is simply amazing! Thanks for such a great simple recipe, I may never boil corn again!
