Great and simple bean recipe! The only change I made was using jalapenos in a jar instead of a fresh one. I don't think I'll ever eat traditional refried beans again!

This was so good, I've made it twice in the past week, once as a side dish and the next as a topping for nachos. I too added a little bit of onion along with the garlic because I had some extra on hand. Just one note, in step 4, boil on a low heat to prevent burning as the mixture likes to stick to bottom of the pan.

Outstanding beans. I made them as a side dish to my burros and they were terrifically authentic. A must try. Thanks for posting the recipe. I prepared them as directed with the exception of backing down to half of a jalepeno because I'm a wuss.
