For a party favor or gift your friends will remember for years to come, try these gorgeous cookies. Add a bit of glitz with white or light blue decorating sugar. A bit of piping practice isn't a bad thing to have in making these fabulous creations.

12 snowflakes (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1/2 cup superfine sugar

  5. 5

  12. 12
Pipe snowflake shapes on top of circles on paper or foil.
  13. 13
    Sprinkle with the decorating sugar.
  14. 14
Bake all of the meringues at the same time on separate oven racks for 10 minutes.
  15. 15
Turn off oven; let meringues dry in oven with door closed for 1 hour.

I had tagged this in 123 Hit Wonders with intentions of my grandbaby assisting. We had great success making these into stars. I'm older than dirt, but I remember a time when handmade confections were considered a treat, not even to mention the joys of bonding with a grandparent. My prayer today is to plant a seed of can-do and will-succeed attitude with, yet, a new generation.

Oh this was so cool! We made half of them as Snowflakes and half as Christmas Trees. I wish I had gotten a picture because they are so pretty. I know we will be making them again soon. It was so easy to whip together. The piping part was the only thing that needed work, but practice makes perfect. They say no two snowflakes look the same right! Lol. Thank you so much for a new fun Christmas treat for our home. Made and Reviewed for Please Review My Recipe Tag - Thanks!
