Maryland Crab Cakes

Recipe #8696 | 20 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: Leslie O
Apr 1, 2001

If you have ever been to the Maryland area or once lived there you would know how AWESOME the seafood is! This recipe will not disappoint you! It was handed down to me from my Mommom, who has lived in Delaware ( Maryland's Neighbor) her entire life. Please try it and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years!

SERVES 3 -4 , 6 -9 cakes (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix together eggs, mayo, OLD BAY, pepper, worcestershire sauce, and mustard, until creamy.
  2. 2
    Add bread crumbs, mixing evenly.
  3. 3
Add in the crab meat, being sure to mix evenly.
  4. 4
    Shape into cakes.
  5. 5
Makes 6 large or 9 medium crabcakes.
  6. 6
Saute in pan with a little oil for about 5 minutes on each side.
  7. 7
You can also broil them until brown. This may require you to flip them, depending on your pan.
  8. 8
Serve with tartar sauce and lemon.
  9. 9
Tip: Try a crabcake sandwich. I use a Martin's Brand potato roll topped with tartar sauce and crisp lettuce.

Had a little trouble keeping the cakes from falling apart, but solved that by placing the formed cake on a metal spatula, then placing that in the oil, and gently sliding the cake off with a spoon. All in all, they were delicious!

These are good, different flavor. They are really good simple cakes. I have to say I like a crab cake with onion, green pepper, ect. so they are not my favortie but still quite good.

Made this but followed my Mom's recommendation, instead of saute I bake them in the oven for 10 minutes, then broil for another 5 minutes. They are really good, not greasy and make good appetizer. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

My oh my oh my! Hubby just raved and he is really picky about his MD Crab Cakes! Not too much filler and wonderful flavor. AT his request we're doing an encore performance in 5 days for his parents. I ran short on time so they only sat for about 30 minutes before being cooked but they held together nicely. Thanks!
