I liked this, but based on the other reviews I did tweak it a little. I soaked overnight 1/2 c oats, 1/2 c water, & 1/4 c raisins. In the morning I added 1 T maple syrup (1/8 c just looked like too much), 1/8 c Recipe # 295198, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, & 1/4 tsp. ginger. I thought it was great! Reviewed for Healthy Choices ABC Tag.

Very interesting recipe. I have to agree with the previous reviewer in one respect. I think the maple syrup wasn't in keeping with the rest of the flavors, I know it's there to avoid processed sugars but it just doesn't jive with the rest of the recipe in this case. I cut the raisins back to a scant 1 tbs to cut the sugars and that amount was plenty for me. After tasting the cooked cereal I added another 1/4 tsp of cinnamon to balance off the ginger. I should say that I made a single serving. I didn't use the soymilk simply because I never use milk in my porridge. It was a nice change but I would skip the maple syrup next time.

Sorry, but neither my husband nor myself cared for this. First of all, Maple syrup is expensive and in this dish it was wasted because the extra sweetness was not needed and the good maple flavor was overpowered by other flavors. The cinnamon and ginger fought with each other for dominance and I don't know which one won. The end result was a dish that had many good things in it but none of them tasted good.I doubt I will try this again but if I do I will leave out the Maple syrup and cut way back on the cinnamon and play with the ginger. The idea is good. Again, sorry for the poor review.
