M & M Dream Bars

Recipe #137253 | 47 min | 15 min prep | add private note

By: GaylaJ
Sep 13, 2005

These are yummy! The original recipe called for red and green Christmas M&Ms, but I see no reason to relegate this delicious treat to just the holidays.

SERVES 24 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Combine oatmeal, brown sugar, flour, coconut, baking soda, and salt; add melted butter and stir until moist (the mixture will be crumbly). Reserve 1 1/2 cups and press remaining crumbs into a greased 13X9-inch baking pan (I line the pan with non-stick foil.).
  2. 2
    Bake 12 minutes at 375°F.
  3. 3
Combine milk and peanut butter; carefully spread over baked crust. Sprinkle on M&M's and chocolate chips. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over chocolate pieces and lightly press crumbs down.
  4. 4
Bake 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting.

OMG!! These were so good. I am making these again and again. THANKS!Update 7/2/07: I wish I could rate these higher than just 5 stars. I have made these 5 times since my first review. I send the recipe when I've made it for others because I know people will want it. This is by FAR my favorite cookie bar ever. Thank you so much for posting such a fun, easy & delicious recipe that I look forward to making every time.

Oh my!.. can you guys see my extra butt.. rich indeed, but oh so wonderful!! Gayla, this is an above 5 star recipe..not only because it tastes so good, but so easy to make. Thank you very, very much!! Tips for others: be gentle when spreading the peanut-butter mix (so the base doesn't lift off), and you will definitely love making 'bar' cookies, if you FOIL the pan. (no oil/grease, no sticking, and you don't even have to wash the pan)

I have made these so many times. Even sent them to my daughter in college and she called saying 'I was the best mom ever'! A hint: I melted the peanut butter and milk in the microwave for 2 minutes on high so that I could pour it over the crust--much easier! ENJOYED--thanks for sharing this recipe! Cherie
