These taste like a good old fashioned hamburger. They are so good! We usually double the recipe and use the meat in Stuffed baked potatoes on the second night.

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook onions until brown and carmelized. Add ground beef and cook until brown.
  2. 2
Add salt, pepper, garlic powder and beef broth to cover. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, until broth is gone, 15 to 30 minutes.
  3. 3
Serve meat on buns topped with dill pickle slices and mustard.
  4. 4
*We steam the buns on top of the meat (with lid on skillet) for a minute or two to get them nice and soft.

Very flavorful meat! I don't like onions and I just gobbled them up along with my kids!! Reminds me almost like a Maid Rite from back home. Thank you for posting this delicious recipe!

This was really good. I was able to just throw this together and get dinner on the table in 45 minutes. The only change I made was to add about 1/2 tsp of worcestershire. That just rounded out the flavor. I will be making this again.

20 stars! I love NuWay sandwiches, but I can only get them back home in KS. This recipe is dead on ....especially if you wrap the sandwich in waxed paper and nuke for a 30 sec- 1 min.( depending on your microwave) before eating. This makes it more "steamed" like the ones you get at the restaraunts. Thank you so much! Now I can have these whenever I want and feel like I'm home again!
