Found on the LAist Blog and keeping for the Holiday cookie exchanges: Once you try these, you'll never eat a plain rice krispy treat again! These spicy alternatives to the sweet treat we all know and love will win you many fans and they will never (ever!) suspect that they're the easiest things to make! How easy? So easy. So yummy. So perfect for a little holiday party spice! You may need to hide these once you make them. They have a way of disappearing rapidly once the word is out that they're "cool" enough to eat. Check it out:

SERVES 12 , 12 bars (change servings and units)

Directions

    In a large bowl, toss together the cereal, cashew nuts and raisins.
  2. 2
    Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  3. 3
    Stir in the marshmellows and cardamom until smooth.
  4. 4
    Pour in the cereal mixture, and stir until evenly coated.
  5. 5
    Spread evenly in a greased baking dish, and pat down lightly.
  6. 6
    Cool and cut into squares.

I really like the nuts and raisins in these squares, as well as the consistency. I'm still undecided on the cardamom, but that is just a personal preference thing.
