I heard about this recipe from a waiter where I work and couldn't wait to find the recipe. After a quick search online I located it. The creator is Brad Legrone. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but will next weekend when I have company in. This recipe can easily be doubled. If you are serving this as an evening dessert, look for my BUTTER RUM SAUCE as a topping. (prep time does not include 1 hour soak time)

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 9 krispy kreme glazed doughnuts, day old
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar, plus
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 cups whole milk

Directions

  1. 1
Butter a 2-quart baking dish and set aside.
  2. 2
Cut doughnuts into 1/2-inch cubes and spread evenly in baking dish.
  3. 3
In a bowl, whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over doughnuts.
  4. 4
    Let rest 1 hour.
  5. 5
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  6. 6
Make a water bath for the pudding by placing the baking dish in a shallow, ovenproof pan.
  7. 7
    Fill pan with warm water.
  8. 8
Place in oven and bake for 70 to 75 minutes; center should be firm.
  9. 9
    Serve warm or cold.

Let me start off by saying, that I did not make this. One of my coworkers found this recipe and made it for us. It was very tasty. I liked how the top was slightly crispy/crunchy yet the bottom was soft and pudding-like. We don't have a krispy kreme near us, but next time the children are doing the fundraiser for sports i'm going to buy a box and make this. Thanks for posting!

This was very sweet but what do you expect with Krispy Kreme Donughnuts. My husband does not like bread pudding but LOVED this. Easy to make and everyone laughed when they heard it was made with doughnuts.
