My dd loves popcorn and some night she asks for sweet corn. This is how I do it. Very simple and so yummy.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup popcorn
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • salt

Directions

  1. 1
Pour oil and butter into a med sized pot with lid. Put on med high heat till butter is melted.
  2. 2
Stir in sugar and popcorn and cover.
  3. 3
When corn begins to pop, using potholders, shake every few minutes with top on.
  4. 4
When pan is full, carefully pour off the popped corn into a bowl. Using the lid, open pan partially and scraping off popped corn with lid.
  5. 5
You may wish to put pan back on oven to pop the rest of corn. Be carefull to remove from heat when the corn stops popping or it will burn.
  6. 6
Sprinkle cooked corn with salt to taste and enjoy.

Very good with just a touch of sweetness. DD loves kettle corn and now we don't have to buy this expensive packs of MW popcorn nor do we get all the junk that is in them! Thanks for posting this MsSally! Made for Zaar Stars.

This made us a nice treat. I first tried cooking in a pot and I don't kniw if my pot was too big but the bottom burned way before the popcorn was done. My pan is now soaking. So, I retried it in my popcorn popper and it worked well. I would probably add 1 tablespoon more butter and just a bit more sugar. I know my grandsons will love this so I will be making again and again Made for The Best of 2008 Cookbook.

This made a delicious snack for us tonight. It's not real sweet, but it was sweet enough for us. It's nice and crispy, too. Thanks for sharing!
