Just Right Hot Dog Chili

Recipe #219361 | 1¼ hours | 15 min prep | add private note

I live hundreds of miles from the 2, best, hot dog chili's I know of — from western PA's Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe chain and from a little stand in the parking lot at the Lowes in Rehoboth, DE. So here's my version of the perfect topping for those hot dogs. I think I got it Just Right. But if you want it hotter go ahead and use 2 more cans of tomatoes with green chilis instead of the regular diced tomatoes.

This recipe makes a TON and I have it loaded up in my freezer (kinda nice to have a whole meal in there!). It is 'just right' as far as the spice goes and I could actually have used a bit more spice. Perhaps some Tabasco next time?

Great tasting, easy recipe. Just the right amount of heat to spice up the hot dogs. We had a kitchen emergency when my roast didn't thaw in time for dinner, but I remembered seeing Susie's photo in the swap suite today. I had everything on hand except the turkey (we used it for meatballs a few nights ago) & only had to micro-defrost the ground beef. I cut the recipe in half & still had enough to vacuum pack & freeze for another night. Thanks for posting your recipe, you're right... it IS Just Right!

Easy to make and tasty. I made half a recipe too. It was a bit spicier than I anticipated, so be careful.

This is very good and perfect over hot dogs. My DH liked it so much he was eating it by itself! I halved the recipe as it makes alot. Perfect for oamc! It has a little spice but not too much and you could easily use the hotter chilies if you like that. As is, its perfect for kids or those who don't like it too spicy. Thanks for sharing!
