Just Like Doubletree Hotel's Chocolate Chip Cookies - Copycat

Recipe #48943 | 18 min | add private note

By: Anita Harris
Dec 17, 2002

Heavenly is all I can say!! I had these cookies on a trip many years ago while staying at a Doubletree Hotel (they left one on each pillow each day after cleaning the rooms) and always thought they were "THE BEST" chocolate chip cookies I had ever eaten! I have searched High and Low for a recipe for anything similar to what I had eaten at the Doubletree and recently found this recipe (unfortunately I can't remember where I got the recipe from)and have made them several times since. They are a little more time-consuming than regular chocolate chip cookies but well worth the extra time! This recipe makes extra large cookies. I'm not sure as to the exact prep time and I don't always chill the dough overnight)

20 cookies (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. 2
Grind oats in a food processor or blender until ground fine.
  3. 3
Combine ground oats with flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon in a medium bowl.
  4. 4
In a separate bowl combine the butter, sugars, vanilla and lemon juice and mix with mixer until combined.
  5. 5
Add the eggs and mix until smooth and creamy.
  6. 6
Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and blend well.
  7. 7
Add the chocolate chips and macadamia nuts to the dough and mix by hand until ingredients are well mixed.
  8. 8
Spoon rounded 1/4 cups full (yes, 1/4 cups!) onto ungreased, nonstick cookie sheet.
  9. 9
Place scoops of dough 2" apart (you don't need to press dough flat).
  10. 10
Bake 16-18 minutes or until cookies are light brown and soft in the middle.
  11. 11
    Let cool.
  12. 12
Store in sealed container to keep soft.
  13. 13
(for best results chill dough overnight).

Doubletree always drops off cookies at my office, so we are spoiled and eat them a lot. These were good, but I think we like the original better.

These cookies were great! I used old fashioned oats and dind't grind them. I also didn't chill the dough and they turned out fine. Really great cookies!

These were very yummy. I used half the butter and a mixture of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chocolate chips. I also didn't refrigerate (the lack of half the butter may have helped in keeping it stiffer). After I baked the first sheet of cookies I added some Breakfast Blend Cappichino mix to it to put some more calories into it. I make my cookies a bit small and this yielded probably 40 small cookies nearly half of which were promptly devoured by boys who needed to gain weight for a wrestling tournament and their parents, the other half are being eaten two at a time by neighbours who drop by (and one on their way out). Without the refrigeration (and half the butter) they did spread into a flat cookie, soft and chewy in the middle with more of a chewy crisp around the edge. Thank you, will use again.
