Jeni's Chocolate Ganache

Recipe #97213 | 1¼ hours | 15 min prep | add private note
Amanda Beth

I named this for my sister-in-law, Jeni, after our misadventures making ganache. The recipe actually comes from the Pillsbury Cookbook. It's the easiest recipe ever, and is delicious, too! I always put it on my birthday cake. Cook time is chill time.

1 cake (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a small saucepan, over low heat, combine chocolate and cream.
  2. 2
Mix and melt together, until chocolate is completely melted, and mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. 3
Remove saucepan from heat and stir in butter.
  4. 4
Refrigerate 1-1/2 hours, or until cold, stirring every now and then.
  5. 5
With wooden spoon or mixer, beat mixture until thick and creamy, and of desired spreading consistency.

Wonderful; I've been wanting to try a ganache and this was the first time and so glad I chose this one. I did add a tsp of expresso powder to it - otherwise made exactly as listed. Used to top Light Chocolate Cake and loved it. Thanks so much for posting.

Great recipe. I didn't refrigerate, I just let it sit in the sauce pan for about a half hour or so. I poured it directly on my cake and it's a beautiful consistency. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe.

Very good consistency. My only comment would be don't let it chill too long in the fridge, or it gets very thick. Thanks
