This bread was SO good. I brought it to a St's Pat's dinner party and it was a huge hit. I substituted poppy seeds for caraway b/c the grocery store didn't have any caraway seeds. Not purist but still delish. Quick and easy too.

This was awesome!! Best soda bread I've ever had! My husband loved it. Wasn't sure about the caraway seeds, but it gave it an interesting element. Thanks

my first time making irish soda bread. delicious. had it along with corned beef for st. patricks day. i did slim this recipe down as i typically do. substituted splenda for the sugar and applesauce for the oil. used eggbeaters and powdered buttermilk with water. this cut out at least 1/2 the calories and the taste was phenomenal. thanks for a great recipe!

MMMM this was good! I had never made soda bread before and this was really tasty. Purests would kill me, but I didn't use the raisins or caraway seed. I made this bread because I didn't have time to make a yeast bread and forgot to buy bread to go with our dinner tonight. Instead, I added poppy seeds and minced onion to the batter. I baked it on a stone and then brushed the top with garlic butter when it came out of the oven. This has a biscuit like texture and is very tender and dense. Thanks for a great recipe!
