Irish Bread

Recipe #101328 | 1¼ hours | 5 min prep | add private note

By: mermaidmagic
Oct 6, 2004

This recipe is from an old friend who is straight from Ireland. I usually omit the caraway seeds, but it's good either way.

1 loaf (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cream together the butter, egg and sugar.
  2. 2
Then mix together with the remaining ingredients.
  3. 3
Use as much milk as needed to make a stiff batter.
  4. 4
If possible, use a heavy (cast iron) frying pan to bake bread in.
  5. 5
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  6. 6
This is great served warm or toasted the next day with butter on top.

This is ugg one of my all time favorites. I will sometimes use splenda instead of regular sugar. And Crasins instead of reaisins. All the joy half the fat. Good job on securing this one.

This was easy and tasty. I would cut back the sugar a little next time. It turned out sort of like a giant scone, it would be nice for breakfast.
