Individual Puff Pastry Apple Pies

Plump little apple pies made out of puff pastry.This recipe seems so simple, and one to impress and please family and friends alike.I received this recipe from my mom, but I haven't tried it yet, I can't wait go out and buy the puff pastry so I can make it. I hope you enjoy it!

SERVES 9 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Thaw puff pastry according to directions on package.
  2. 2
    Peel, core and chop apples up coarsely.
  3. 3
    Combine apples with sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  4. 4
    Heat oven to 350°F.
  5. 5
    Flour surface lightly and cut pastry sheet into nine 3x3 squares.
  6. 6
    Place approximately 1/4 cup apple mixture on each square and brush edge with beaten egg.
  7. 7
    Place second pastry square on the top of the already filled pastry to form a pocket.
  8. 8
    Press down border with fingers to seal and then press with fork to decorate the edges.
  9. 9
    Make a 1-inch L shape incision into each pie and fold back the pastry flap.
  10. 10
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet and give each one an egg wash.
  11. 11
    Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until golden.

Might not like puff pastry as much as I had thought. They were good though. Found the dough a bit difficult to work with when the apple juices got on the edges, so I had to wipe them off before the egg wash. Husband rated this 3.75 and I think I'd agree. Would consider making this again, but maybe put a little more apple filling in the center? I may have scimped unintentionally.

    We adore this recipe! I can eat them all in one night by myself however, so if Hubby is to get any make two batches!

    I made these this afternoon and oh boy does the house smell good. I doubled the recipe. Because I don't often eat eggs, I used some hazelnut soy cream in place of the egg wash and that really added to the flavor. I think I'll definitely be making these again. Thanks for a really simple and delicious recipe.
