A Taste of Home Recipe. States it is of Pennsylvania Dutch origin. Very simple to put together. Meat can be mixed up the night before, then cooked the following morning if you like.

SERVES 8 , 8 patties (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a bowl, mix first 8 ingredients.
  2. 2
Crumble pork over the mixture and combine (may need to use your hands).
  3. 3
Shape into 8 patties and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  4. 4
In a greased skillet over medium heat, fry patties for 5-6 minutes on each side or until meat is no longer pink. They may stick a little to the pan due to the cheese.

I was the happy recipient of some wild pig and was debating various recipes. This was so simple and far superior to the pre-packaged type. There's no excuse to use any other sausage patty. Whip them up and freeze them if you must!

These are sooooo good and so simple I'm amazed. I only altered a couple of tiny things-I used a clove of real garlic and added a pinch of fennel. The fennel (one of my favourite spices) was excellent in these. I only made 6 and they took about 10 minutes a side, but they were extremely juicy.

Great recipe thanks, added a pinch of fennel and smoked paprika. Terrific for breakfast with eggs, tomatoes and cottage cheese. Thanks again.

What a great flavour. Very easy to make too and the cheese melts beautifully. I served with Sage and Parmesan Rice and they matched perfectly together.
