Heather's Safe to Eat Raw Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Recipe #108925 | 8 min | 8 min prep | add private note

We are huge cookie fans and possible even bigger cookie dough fans! Realizing it probably wasn't all that great to be allowing my family to devour chunks of cookie dough at a time - I created a SAFE TO EAT raw cookie dough recipe. We keep this in the fridge and grab a hunk whenever we feel the urge - and we also freeze scoops of this stuff to snack on later. Perfect for mixing into ice cream.

SERVES 30 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In large bowl cream butter and sugar until light in color.
  2. 2
    Add pudding and combine well.
  3. 3
    Stir in vanilla and milk.
  4. 4
Add baking soda, if you choose to & flour 1/2 cup at a time until combined.
  5. 5
    Stir in chocolate chips.
  6. 6
Store in fridge or freeze small scoops in the freezer.
  7. 7
Enjoy, WITHOUT the worry of eating raw eggs.
  8. 8
You can choose to leave out the baking soda, but it adds a nice flavor to the dough, and I find we miss it when it is not there.

I mixed the ingredients up through the vanilla with the kitchen aid mixer wisk, then converted over to the dough hook for the remainder of the components... turned out awesomely! I may add a bit more brown sugar next time.

I agree with the Cynical Chef. I like your ingenuity, but in-shell pasteurized eggs like Davidson's are the perfect solution. Then you can eat it or bake it.

Last Christmas I made Cookie Dough Truffles using a different recipe for the safe cookie dough. They were good, but the consistency of the dough wasn't quite right. This year I was in search of a new dough recipe. This is awesome!! It tastes just like the real thing. To turn them into Cookie Dough Truffles, chill the dough. Then roll into 1 inch balls and chill them for a couple hours. Then dip them in melted semi-sweet chocolate and chill again. Store in the refrigerator. They are heavenly. Thanks for the great safe dough recipe!

Made this one afternoon with my daughter. WE LOVED IT. I really think the vanilla pudding really gives it a great flavor. Tastes very good when eaten at room temprature. Thanks for posting. This was fun!!
