I found this recipe on one of those little leaflets that they pass out at the supermarket. It's a great way to use up leftover ham and a great family pleaser. Serve with lots of bread to soak up the sauce.

SERVES 4 -6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a large sauce pan or dutch oven, over medium heat, cook bacon and onions until tender.
  2. 2

  3. 3
Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
  4. 4
Add ham, cook 10 minutes longer to warm through.

I threw fresh mushrooms in with the onions and used chili beans instead of kidney beans. I also added a tablespoon of mustard to give it more of a sweet and sour taste, because without the mustard it was just too sweet. A great way to use up Easter ham!

This is a tasty and easy recipe. My whole family enjoyed it. I added a lg. grated carrot- in the pan with the onion and some frozen corn with the ham.(always trying to get at least 5 a day veggies in!) I served it with diced raw onions and cilantro. Definately having this again! Thanks!

Really nice flavor. I didn't have kidney beans, so I just added another can of pork and beans. Served with some shredded cheese on top. Next time I'll add some chopped onions and maybe some sour cream to the condiment choice.

What a unique and delicious recipe. Its the sweetest chili I've had but I couldn't stop eating it. Definitely a keeper. I added a can of corn for more veggies
