Yummy sandwich! I used some leftover steak and a sandwich roll because I didn't have any rye. This was simple to put together and tasted great. Thanks Pneuma. Made for I Recommend Tag.

Wonderful! And easy prep, too. I used apple cider vinegar only b/c I did not have any red wine vinegar left otherwise made as posted. My sandwich steaks were pretty thick-too thick but that is what the grocery store called sandwich steak so a half sandwich was plenty for DH and I, DS ate the whole thing! I used Hearty Onion Rye Bread (Bread Machine) for the toasted rye suggestion. Thanks Pneuma for sharing. Made for Aus/NZ Recipe Swap.

This is an outstanding and wonderful recipe. Very easy to put together as well! I used a round steak that I sliced thinly and against the grain. I only had a submarine roll instead of the rye bread, (I wish I had the rye!) but the roll was extraordinary as well. The onions were terrific, Dennis could of eaten the bowl of onions and mushrooms all by itself. I made a steak seasoning out of garlic powder, salt, pepper, and basil. We throughly loved this and will be making this quite often this summer. Thank you Pneuma~ Perfect! Made for Spring Spectacular April 2008.

This was very tasty and quite different tasting from the usual type of grilled steak sandwiches we often have! The extra flavors in the caramelized onions leave the sandwiches where they don't need mayo or mustard at all. We served our sandwiches with some crock pot french onion soup. Thanks for sharing! ~Sue
