Goldy Bear's Scout's Brownies

This came from Diane Mott Davidson's book "Dying for Chocolate", and was "created" by caterer Goldy Bear. These were a hit last Thanksgiving.

SERVES 32 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    preheat oven to 350 degrees (high altitude 375).
  2. 2
    Melt butter with unsweetened chocolate in a double boiler.
  3. 3
    Set aside to cool.
  4. 4
    Sift together cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt.
  5. 5
    Beat eggs until creamy, and slowly add the sugar, beating constantly.
  6. 6
    Add vanilla and cooled chocolate/butter mixture.
  7. 7
    Stir in dry ingredients until just combined.
  8. 8
    Spread batter in buttered 9x13 pan.

    Sprinkle chocolate chips over surface.
  10. 10
    Bake for 30-35 minutes or until center is set.

    Let cool before cutting.

    Very good!! Very easy to make but I would have liked them to be a bit denser and fudgier. Having never made brownies before, I'm not sure if it was something I did. I'll make them again and let you know if they're any different.

    These are really good brownies! To simplify things, I melted the chocolate & butter in the microwave. Baked for 30 minutes. I liked the chocolate chips sprinkled on top instead of mixed in. Thanks for the recipe!
