Golden Fried Tofu Bites

Recipe #101891 | 50 min | 40 min prep | add private note

By: mlok
Oct 13, 2004

Fast, easy and tasty. Goes well with Thai curry. The only tofu that my BF (serious carnivore) will eat! Prep time is mainly the time that the tofu is draining.

SERVES 2 -3 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Rinse the tofu.
  2. 2
Place tofu on a plate, cover with two large heavy plates and let drain for 30 minutes.
  3. 3
Dry the tofu and cut into small bite-sized cubes.
  4. 4
    (3/4 inch or less).
  5. 5
In a large bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch and seasoning salt.
  6. 6
Carefully dredge the tofu bites in the seasoned flour mixture, making sure they are well-coated.
  7. 7
Fry, half at a time, in peanut oil at medium-high heat for about five minutes or until golden and crispy.
  8. 8
Repeat with other half of the tofu.
  9. 9
Best eaten piping hot as soon as they are cooked.
  10. 10
May be eaten plain, dipped into liquid honey, or they go very well with red Thai curry.

I made these to take with some other things to my mom for dinner. They were easy to make and wonderful to eat! Nice delicate crispness on the outside while being tender on the inside. I didn't have seasoning salt or peanut oil so I used sea salt and vegetable oil. I thoroughly enjoyed them anyway! This is definitely going into my favorites folder. THANK YOU, mlok :D

Tasty tofu Mlok! I cooked up a large batch of these and we had some plain, some dipped in Thai chili sauce and used most of them in Bean Curd With Broccoli Bean Curd with Broccoli. Very nice....my daughter went home with the recipe. Thanks Mlok for posting this

mmmm, tastes like the fried tofu I get from local boba milk tea shops. I used my deep frier and added cayenne pepper to the dry mix to give it a little kick. Thanks a lot!
